Overview

On occasion we visit properties from which we’re quite happy to jump back on the road. This one has the complete opposite effect. Something about the light, pouring in from the high glass, the green jungle you see from every angle, the softness of the wood, thatch and white-painted brick; it all wraps you up and suggests, softly (but convincingly), that you should stay a little longer.

The property is a bit off the Kandy-Colombo road, around an hour south-west of Kandy itself. From a simple concrete road you arrive through a corridor of Betel Nut palms and wind up on a grassy estate drive to the main house. That house sits a little elevated with gorgeous views to jungle-covered hills on one side and the quite spectacular sight of Bible Rock emerging above the rice paddy on the other.

The house has three bedrooms - two spacious doubles and a smaller ‘single’ bedroom - all with en suite bathrooms. An open plan kitchen and living space at the front fills with natural sunlight from the double-height glass frontage and opens to a wide pool decking and the infinity-edged pool that seems to pour into the jungle.

A mezzanine level sits above the bedrooms to give plenty more living, eating, drinking, hosting space as needed.

A short walk from the main house there are two generously sized cabanas. All wood and thatch, but well-maintained, they sit neatly in the jungle and echo the soft tones of the main house. Both have wrap-around verandahs and neatly styled bathrooms modern bathrooms.

A simply but stylishly restored cottage by the main gate gives further guest accommodation or might well suit as a studio or working space for owners spending much of their time at the house.

  • Drive times mentioned below will reduce on completion of the opening stage of the Central Expressway - perhaps by end 2026.

Overall, the remoteness and total peace is the magic of this lovely place.

    Colombo - 2.5 hours drive

International Airport - 2.5 hours drive

    Kandy - 1.5 hours drive

  • The property is currently under the management of a well-established and professionally organised group and new owners would have the option simply to continue that setup.

The location (not one for which tourists are clamouring) requires some thoughtful marketing but well-pitched the property is more than attractive enough to generate good income.

With over three acres of land there is definite scope to increase room numbers with more cabanas and, having done so, have a totally idyllic group retreat location.

  • All furniture and fittings are offered as included within the sale.

    Electricity - three-phase connection

    Water - municipal/government water supply
